The Torrance
Company has been serving the medical profession for over 60 years.
This pharmaceutical and medical products company was established in
1946 by D. M. Torrance in Kalamazoo, Michigan, specializing in
formulating specific tablet formulas for physicians when their
“favorite formulas” were discontinued by manufacturers.
Mr. Torrance
was a chemist and during the late 1920’s, while teaching high school
chemistry, he created a class project for his chemistry students to
study the fermentation of yeast by growing it in a laboratory
setting. The project was a success and led to the production of
yeast tablets and powder, used as nutritional supplements. Mr.
Torrance used his chemistry knowledge to create a new era of
vitamins and topical ointments. By 1934 he had developed and
manufactured Vitamins, Protein Supplements, Digestive Enzymes and
Topical Lotions / Ointments.
During the mid
1950’s Injectables, Syringes, Needles and other Medical Products
were introduced into The Torrance Company product line and were
marketed along with Vitamin and topical formulas. Being an
innovator, D. M. Torrance developed and manufactured the “Torrance
Discolator” in 1952. This traction table was designed to improve
spinal function. Over fifty tables were sold and distributed to
physicians during the 1950’s. The experience and knowledge of
traction tables gained during this time, proved beneficial and we
now distribute Portable Therapeutic Tables to the entire medical
profession.
The Torrance
